Light painting is a term that describe techniques of moving a light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or space, or to shine light at the camera to ‘draw’, or by moving the camera itself during exposure of light sources.
I had no idea how easy it was to start with it. You need a tripod and a dark area if possible.
These pictures were my first try at light painting and I used the IPhone flashlight and some sparklers. How to get better effects, I do not recommend either.
A better option is to invest in a Pixelstick or Fotorgear Magilight. They run for about $250 – $300 but are immensely helpful with the thousands of images that you can load into them to use.
A gallery for light painting using my Pixelstick will be up soon.
